Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Friday’s (June 28) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on Monday July 1 at 7pm.

Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) is no stranger to an enemy or six, having wracked up an impressive number of foes over his two decades in the village, but this time he appears to have gone too far – with one of adversary having sought revenge.

The hard-man, as viewers know, was gunned down by a mystery assailant on a motorbike earlier this week, with Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) witnessing the horrific scenes unfold.

Warren collapsed to the floor in the aftermath, with Mercedes wasting little time in checking to see if he was okay.

Norma Crow (Glynis Barber), who was nearby at the time of the shooting, raced over to check on her son, who revealed that he was wearing a bulletproof vest at the time of the incident.

Phew!

But despite Warren having cheated death once again, it’s clear that someone is out to get him and therefore Norma made it her mission to find out who.

Mercedes, meanwhile, confessed that she was previously in cahoots with Freddie Roscoe (Charlie Clapham) and Grace Black (Tamara Wall) as part of a plot to get revenge on Warren over his role in Hunter McQueen’s (Theo Graham) tragic death.

The former landlady of The Dog, however, was adamant that the shooting wasn’t tied to their plan.

Warren didn’t hold any animosity towards Mercedes, as the two bonded and even shared a kiss, but his attention was soon elsewhere as the motorbike used in the shooting was located in a nearby carpark, with the show’s signature gangster wasting little time in heading to the scene.

While there, he received a phone call on a mysterious mobile device from a ‘messenger’, who was nearby watching Warren, telling him that he might’ve dodged a bullet this time, but next time he ‘won’t be so lucky’.

The question is: just who is it that wants Warren dead?

Elsewhere in the village, a cagey Freddie asked Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) if he could stay with him at 17 Basswood Road for the night in the wake of the shooting.

Darren was apprehensive at first but agreed to do so when Freddie reassured him that he had no part in the shooting.

But is he telling the truth? Not entirely, it would seem!

With everyone asleep, Freddie hid a gun under his pillow. Does this confirm that it was he who shot Warren after all? If so, is it only a matter of time before the truth comes out?

Or, as is usually the case in Hollyoaks, can fans expect another clever twist to turn the narrative completely on its head? You’ll just have to keep watching to find out!
